Conference Chiefs

 


Josephine Njambi (Conference Chaiperson)

Josephine Njambi serves as the 2014 Conference Chairperson. She also serves as Secretary of the YALDA International Publicity Team and has been actively involved in YALDA in various capacities and instrumental organizing the YALDA 2012 conference held in Lagos, Nigeria. She has also assisted in the conference secretariat in the International Conference on The Great Lakes Region 9th Extra Ordinary Summit as well as the Kenya at 50 celebrations. Josephine has a background in International Relations. Recently, she co-founded SphineDav & Associates Consulting, an international affairs/development consultancy.

 


Valerie Waweru (Deputy Chairperson)

Valerie serves as the 2014 Conference Deputy Chairperson as well as the Executive Director of YALDA USIU. She has been in YALDA since 2013 where she served as the Chief Rapporteur of YALDA MAU 2013. She has also worked for the United Nations Millennium Campaign (2006-2009) during which she helped run various campaigns such as the Pan African youth summit in 2006 and the World Social Forum in 2007. She is studying for a second degree in International Relations (Development Studies) with a minor in French.

Grant Davis (Chief of Content)

Grant is Chief of Content for the YALDA 2014 Conference in Kenya. He has also planned and participated in YALDA Conference 2011 in Botswana and the YALDA Conference 2012 in Nigeria. He has been with YALDA since 2009, spearheading the formation of the YALDA Wits branch in South Africa. Grant has experience in financial services and has worked in social justice. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Development Planning.

 


Glory Blasio Emmanuel (Chief of Finance)

Glory Blasio currently serves as the YALDA Chief of Finance. She joined YALDA in 2012 crystallizing her leadership skills through participating in the YALDA International conference 2012 in Lagos, Nigeria. She served as the Chief Conference Director of the inaugural 2013 YALDA-MAU and holds an award of excellence from the 2014 AfroMUN (African Model United Nations) conference held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as well as being a participant in the 2013 diplomatic training at Harvard University. She is currently a research assistant at the Grants and Graduate Studies office of United States International University.

 


Darleen Waithira Macharia (Chief of Logistics)

Darleen is the enthusiastic Chief of Logistics for this year's conference and also currently the chair of the YALDA-USIU Observances Committee. She has participated in the organizing other activities as a YALDA representative, and served on the Black History Month Committee. As a Kenyan, she is a strong believer in the African dream and she is studying for a B.A in International Relations.

 


Priyankaben Patel (Chief of Publicity)

Priyanka is a young social Kenyan who is serving as the Chief of Publicity for the YALDA International 2014 conference in Kenya. She has been with YALDA since 2012 and is currently the Chairperson for the Giving Back Committee in YALDA. She worked with YALDA MAU 2013 as a Publicity Officer. She is a third year International Relations student at the United States International University.

 


Lucy Mutuku (Chief of Registrations)

Lucy is a passionate and dedicated Kenyan youth who serves as the Chief of Registrations for YALDA 2014 international conference. She has been a dedicated member of YALDA for a year. Lucy is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in International Relations in United States International University ľAfrica (USIU) and is the Deputy executive director of the YALDA chapter at USIU.
